Kitchen Manager (Head Chef)

We're looking for an enthusiastic individual to lead our kitchen team in maintaining our values and purpose through exceptional food quality, team engagement, and a commitment to sustainability. Unique experience for an inspired chef to fulfil their passion in our newly renovated boutique commercial kitchen. 

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Uphold food safety standards in all production, storage, and presentation areas.

  • Ensure top-notch food quality, delighting every customer with a memorable experience.

  • Cultivate a dynamic and positive workplace culture, including recruitment, staff training initiatives and performance reviews. This will also include evoking the creative spirit of the kitchen team and being able to transform great ideas into simple, replicable and cost-effective recipes. 

  • Oversee profitability, productivity, and time management, ensuring punctuality and task completion.

  • Our team is small but mighty. Cooking food for display fridge, no cooking to order.

Food production:

  • Maintain and enhance the menu, collaborating closely with the Cafe Manager and buyers. 100% organic; 100% vegetarian; with a multitude of dietary requirement options including vegan and gluten free.

  • Uphold food safety measures, managing stock rotation and quality control. 

  • Must be well versed in maintaining food allergen process.

  • Manage stock loss and maintain attractive displays and signage.

  • Communicate effectively with various departments and buyers regarding quality and customer feedback.

Financial Management:

  • Meet budget requirements in sales, margins, costs, and expenditure.

  • Develop and maintain margins through cost and pricing evaluations.

Marketing & Brand Synergy:

  • Support in-store marketing efforts and contribute ideas for external marketing campaigns.

  • Collaborate with management for a unified brand approach and enhanced efficiencies.

  • Suitable for a salary position.

  • You are an inspired cook that loves playfully exploring and creating within the culinary realms of the vegetable kingdom.

  • Traditional and emerging kitchen trends spark your interest and inspire the delicious creations you create in your living kitchen. (including interest into vegan, gluten free and ketogenic diets)

  • You’re passionate about food experimentation re: ingredients, ideas and new possibilities

  • You have a personal interest and commitment to health and wellbeing.

  • You have efficient technology skills; as the role will include roster scheduling, department communications and admin.

  • Commercial kitchen experience essential; leadership / management is highly desirable. 

  • Compliance with Food Allergen Processes, National Employment Standards, Wild Things Enterprise Agreement, workplace health and safety guidelines, and store management systems.
